The utter betrayal
your heart leads you to
sets you up for success
and laughs as you fail.

Shoves it in your face
in as many ways
for as many days
as miserably possible.

Just when your mending
back into your face
misery, your heart's resending.
All the while,
- you remain broken.

Wounds a-fresh,
a re-opened scab,
a simple regret
sends you reeling back.

Back into the past
your "happiest" days
when you lent your heart
to the one you thought you loved.

Heart thrown back at you
in fooling thoughts
and cunning words.
I almost fell
but my conscious heard
about my foolish plan.

To have always
you by my side,
my "loyal" boyfriend
with wandering eyes.

So to my heart
I lock you away.
Never to see the light of day.
Chained inside
until the day
when a nicer boy
sweeps you away.

To my memory,
forever you are burned
the biggest mistake
a lesson, I learned.
